T-minus 10 days until Featherlite Fall Jamboree kicks off at ‘The Creek’

The best of the best are gearing up for the 24th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree which kicks off on Thursday September 22nd and runs through to the finals on Saturday September 24th.

The Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt is coming to town for America’s Modified Dirt Race Marquee event at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, and another packed house is expected.

This year’s event will feature a $3,000 USRA Modified race to be won on Thursday, followed by a $5,000 race to be won on Friday and culminating in a $12,000 top prize for Saturday’s winner of the event. main of 30 cars which will start at three.

Saturday’s annual non-qualifier race will pay $2,000 to win and $250 to start for the next 30 racers who don’t race the 30-car main event.

Again this year, the USRA B-Mods will race all three nights. With a new twist, competitors will compete in paired races for $500 each to be won on Thursday and Friday, then $1,500 to win Saturday’s final. National Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series points are up for grabs on all three nights.

More than any other racetrack, the 3/8 mile dirt oval in the hills of southern Minnesota will host the Summit USMTS Modifieds for the 120th time on Thursday, and the list of past USMTS winners at ‘The Creek’ might be the names of half the fame of modified land races.

Nine-time USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock won the first-ever contest here in 2002, her first of 10 at Deer Creek. Rodney Sanders has won 11 checkered flags here, but both trump Jason Hughes who has a series-best 14 wins.

Ryan Gustin has seven wins while Tim Donlinger and Terry Phillips have five each, along with Brandon Davis, the track’s winningest rider, and two-time reigning Featherlite Fall Jamboree champion Jake O’Neil.

Jason Cummins and Brad Waits have four each while Cade Dillard, Zack VanderBeek and Joey Jensen have three wins. The two winners include Corey Dripps, Jason Krohn, Ryan Ruter, Stormy Scott, Lucas Schott, Johnny Scott, Dustin Sorensen and Derek Ramirez.

Drivers who have visited victory lane here once include Mark Noble, Steve Wetzstein, Darin Walker, Tony Fraise, Dan Daniels, Chad Kinder, Mark Burgtorf, Brad McEwan, Randy Timms, Dean Mahlstedt, Tommy Myer, Mike Sorensen, Mike Spaulding, Dan Chapman, Les Duellman, Mike Hejna, Steve Arpin, Jon Tesch, Jordan Grabouski, Jeremy Payne, Craig Thatcher, Tommy Weder Jr., Jacob Bleess, Jake Timm and Jim Chisholm.

O’Neil swept the pandemic-shortened two-day weekend last year. Only Jason Hughes swept the three days of the Featherlite Fall Jamboree. He did it in 2015.

If you can’t be there in person, catch all the action from anywhere on any device with RacinDirt. Watch live and get exclusive content on your desktop, portable tablet, or a suite of apps like Roku, Amazon Fire, iOS, Apple TV, and Google Play.
