Obituary: Sharon I. Hosley, 78, longtime resident of Guilford

Longtime Guilford resident Sharon I. Hosley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home and family following a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Louisville, KY on August 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Doolittle Fagan. She was the beloved wife of Richard M. Hosley. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Sharon graduated from Branford High School in 1963. She discovered her love for ceramics at a young age and quickly developed a passion for the art of clay; eventually owner of his own pottery workshop and business in Branford. Sharon has become an award-winning potter exhibiting and selling her work at galleries and events nationwide. She was well known in the art community and often donated her art to various local causes in the community.

Sharon was a humble, kind and gentle soul who loved her family and everyone who met her. Her greatest happiness came when she was surrounded by family and friends and always found a reason to celebrate. Sharon strived to enjoy every moment of life and brought joy to so many people through her art. She loved traveling around the world and organized many family adventures by the lake.

Besides Richard, Sharon is survived by her children, Ric Hosley (Kim) of Chester, CT and Susan Pingree (Brett) of Falmouth, ME; his five grandchildren, Cecelia, Hunter and Isabel Hosley, and Blaise and Cassidy Pingree; his special niece Wendy Stach (Matt) of Durham, CT; his brothers, William and Robert Bruce Fagan (Marie) and his sister JoAnn Panek (Pete).

Parents and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the WS Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Visiting time before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
