Grab your noodle and participate in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Flick-N-Float. Watch “The Little Mermaid” while relaxing in the water park. Doors open at 7 p.m., film starts at dusk (8 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.). Admission is $5 per person. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Conroe Aquatic Center

The Water Park at the City of Conroe Aquatic Center will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The entrance fee is $10 per person for anyone entering the facility. Youth dance

Youth dance registration is now open for the fall. Tap, ballet and jazz programs offer students ages 18 months to 16 years the opportunity to experience dance for the first time or continue to hone their skills. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday at various times. The registration fee is $65 for residents of the City of Conroe and $81 for non-residents. Guardian safe at home

[email protected] by Safe Sitter is a 90-minute program designed for students in grades four through six to prepare them to be safe when home alone. Students learn to practice safe habits, prevent dangerous situations, and how to deal with hazards such as power outages or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards self-reliance. The cost is $12 for City of Conroe residents and $15 for non-residents. Is your babysitter a “Safe Sitter?” Teens can learn the skills they need to be a prepared babysitter. Safe Sitter classes are offered at the CK Ray Recreation Center for youth ages 11 and up. The next class will be on August 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $25 for City of Conroe residents and $31 for non-residents. Register early, places are limited! plastic arts class

Let’s be Artsy! This session will introduce beginner clay making on Monday, working with clay and hand building techniques (no wheel throwing). On Tuesdays, learn tips, tricks and techniques for creating a personal masterpiece using ceramic paints. Art classes are offered in the Activity Center Art Room, across from the CK Ray Recreation Center. This session lasts 3 weeks. Cost is $50 for Conroe residents and $63 for non-residents for a one-hour class, 5:30-6:30 p.m. All supplies are included. Senior Luncheon

Conroe Senior Center’s Monthly Seniors Lunch and Learn will be August 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This month’s speaker is from Entergy and will talk about weathering your home, reducing utility bills, bill payment assistance and hurricane preparedness. The lunch is also sponsored by Entergy. RSVP required by August 15 at 936-522-3950 to guarantee a free lunch.

KidFish

Event date: September 10, 9 a.m. to noon

KidFish is a non-profit outreach program designed to educate and provide hands-on fishing experience and memories for children and families. This FREE event will be held at Carl Barton Jr. Park for children 16 and under. Participants may use their own fishing equipment, but a limited number of rods and bait will be available. All fishing participants must register for the event. The trophies will be awarded immediately after the final measurement. Donations to help and the KidFish program are accepted at the event. Adult dance – Ballet/jazz lessons

Maybe you danced when you were younger, maybe you want to try something different. This class will use the art of dance to tone the body, while learning and practicing the basics of ballet or jazz technique. Gain muscle without decreasing range of motion, strength, flexibility, increase balance and coordination, and improve posture. This session lasts 4 weeks and the cost is $40 for Conroe residents and $50 for non-residents for a one hour class: Ballet 6:45pm / Jazz 7:45pm. 16 and over are welcome.
